BlackBerry Desktop For Mac Gets Official PlayBook Support
The BlackBerry PlayBook tablet was launched back in April and has since been in need of firmware updates to address bugs and missing features. Despite the recent string of bad news for RIM along with the rumors of a canceled 10-inch PlayBook, RIM has managed to continue updates with the release today of the BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac version 2.1.
The BlackBerry Desktop Manager for Mac allows Mac users who have BlackBerry smartphones and/or the PlayBook tablet to sync and backup data to their Mac. Previously, users had to manually copy files over USB or Wi-Fi in order to transfer them to the PlayBook. It was a simple drag and drop process but could still be time consuming.
Now with the 2.1 update, Mac users can now automatically sync music, movies, and photos between the PlayBook and their Mac via iTunes and iPhoto over USB. The oldest versions that will work with this update are Mac OS X 10.5.7, BlackBerry OS 4.2, and iTunes 7.7.1.
