BioWare promises to make Sonic characters likeable

When I was a kid, Sonic The Hedgehog was one of the coolest video game characters out there. All of the games on the Genesis rocked, and even the cartoon show wasn't half bad (even if Steve Urkel was the voice actor). Unfortunately I haven't played a new Sonic game in years. The last couple that I played just weren't that great. However, with BioWare behind his latest adventure, I may just have to give it a shot.

Sonic Chronicles: The Dark Brotherhood will be an RPG featuring Sonic and his host of friends. During a recent inteview, BioWare admitted that many of Sonic's friends aren't the most-loved characters out there, but they are seriously hoping to change that.

I think maybe the challenge there, if people are not as excited about having the friends, is making them worthwhile, making them a good part of the game. They're not going to be gimmicky. They're not going to be side things. It is actually a core part of the gameplay mechanic. It's actually, we think, going to revitalize the love of the Sonic friends, especially Big the Cat.

I'm really interested to see what BioWare can do with the Sonic franchise. I'll be keeping my eye on this one.
