BenQ Zowie XL2540 e-Sports monitor has 240Hz refresh rate

BenQ has announced a new computer monitor that is aimed directly at the e-Sports gamers out there called the Zowie XL2540. The monitor is designed to use a 240Hz refresh rate that BenQ says can be fully activated for different levels of gameplay experience if the computer it is attached to can generate over 240 frames per second.

The monitor is a 24.5-inch unit that has a native resolution of 1920 x 1080. BenQ seems to want people to come by and see the monitor in action stating that the specs don't tell the full story. We know the XL2540 has a 16:9 aspect ratio and a pixel pitch of 0.28mm. Typical brightness is 400 cd/m2 and typical contrast is 1000:1.

It has connectivity options including DVI-DL, two HDMI ports, DP1.2, headphone jack, and a mic jack. The monitor has an integrated USB hub with three downstream ports and a single upstream port. It's not stated if those are USB 2.0 or 3.0 ports. The display has no integrated speakers. The power supply is built-in and has 55W power consumption.

It can be wall mounted using a 100x100mm VESA bracket. On its stand it can pivot 90-degrees, swivel left and right by 45-degrees and tilt -5 to 20 degrees. The monitor can be height adjusted by 140mm. It appears that the monitor has flaps on each side that blocks light and people from looking over to see what you are doing on the screen from the sides. Pricing and availability are unannounced at this time.
