BenQ TK850 4K HDR10 projector is made for bright rooms and sports

BenQ is back with another home projector, this one being its new TK850. The model is said to be the first-ever 4K HDR-PRO projector designed for use in bright living rooms, offering a clear picture even during daytime hours. The projector features DLP projection and 4K HDR video support, as well as the promise of 'true to life' colors, 98-percent Rec. 709 color gamut and more.

The BenQ TK850 projector is ideal for watching movies at home, live sports, and more. With 3,000 lumens, the company says its projector is visible with 'vivid colors' even in rooms that are brightly lit. The model comes with a built-in Sports Mode, which is designed to enhance the video quality for producing natural greens and blues, as well as realistic skin tones, for things like football and soccer games.

This Sports Mode also produces what BenQ describes as 'visceral enjoyment' by boosting CinemaMaster Audio+2, a 10-watt chambered audio system that helps make the sports announcer's voice more prominent over the noisy fans.

Digging into the specs, the TK850 features a 3840 x 2160 resolution, 100-inch projected image at a distance of only 8.2ft, as well as a 1.3x zoom and +10-percent vertical lens shift. Users have the option of mounting the TK850 with a typical projector ceiling mount and using it with an ordinary projector screen.

The projector has a native 16:9 aspect ratio, 30,000:1 contrast ratio, 30 bits color, and a 245-watt lamp. BenQ says users can expect a light source life of around 4,000 hours when used in 'normal' mode, a figure that can be boosted to 10,000 and 15,000 hours when used in 'economic' and 'SmartEco' modes, respectively.

The BenQ TK850 projector is available now for $1,699.99 USD.
