Battle for Azeroth release: Here's when WoW's big expansion drops

After months of waiting, the big day is finally here: World of Warcraft's seventh expansion, Battle for Azeroth, launches today. For the first time in World of Warcraft history, Battle for Azeroth will be launching around the world at the same time. If you're in North America, then, that means no more waiting a day while other players around the world get a head start on content.

So, when does the big event happen? Blizzard actually detailed the release times for Battle for Azeroth a few months back, but since the day is here at last, it's worth running through them again. Here's when Battle for Azeroth unlocks around the world:

Monday, August 13

Los Angeles: 3 PM PDT

New York: 6 PM EDT

Sao Paulo: 7 PM BRT

London: 11 PM BST

Tuesday, August 14

Paris: 12 AM CEST

Moscow: 1 AM MSK

Taipei: 6 AM CST

Seoul: 7 AM KST

Sydney: 8 AM AEST

So, we're just a few hours out from Battle for Azeroth's launch. The pre-patch for the expansion released last month, so the stage is set for it to go live later today. The big question now is whether or not the servers will be able to handle such this "unified launch" as Blizzard is calling it. Servers have historically taken a hit whenever a new World of Warcraft expansion releases, and none of those previous ones launched in all regions at the same time.

That aspect makes Battle for Azeroth's launch worth watching even if you aren't a World of Warcraft player. If you are, by chance, part of the WoW faithful, then this launch is exciting for more than one reason, and Blizzard has done a pretty good job of ramping up excitement for the expansion through excellent animated shorts like the one you see above.
