Audi's second-gen Q3 SUV debuts

Audi has unveiled the second generation of its Q3 SUV. The new Q3 is revised outside and in and offers new features and options that the outgoing model lacked. The Q3 uses a digital cockpit with large MMI touch response. On the outside, the style of the new Q3 was revised for a sportier look.

The front of the Q3 rocks an octagon-style grille and larger air inlets on each side over the wheels. Headlights are narrow and run inwards with a wedge shape. Buyers can opt for three different headlight versions that all use LED tech. At the top of the range are Matrix LED headlights with adaptive high beam.

Over the wheel arches are color contrasting arch trim that gives the Q3 an off-road look according to Audi. Buyers also get a long roof edge spoiler that wraps around the sides of the rear window. Lots of customization options are offered for the Q3. Buyers can opt for a contrasting paint color for the attachments on the lower body. An S line exterior package gives a sportier look to the bumpers, sill trims, and diffuser.

Audi offers 11 paint colors and there are three different interior line options that can be combined with any exterior line buyers want. The new Q3 rides on the VW modular transverse matrix making it larger in nearly all dimensions than the outgoing Q3. It is 14.7-feet long, 1-inch wider, and has a 3-inch longer wheelbase than the old Q3. The longer wheelbase gives more interior room.

Versions with the top of the line infotainment system get LTE Advanced connectivity as standard. An optional navigation and infotainment plus package gives access to Google Earth for better maps and direction finding. That infotainment system can automatically switch between FM, DAB, and online streams depending on reception strength for your favorite channels. Audi fits a quartet of cameras around the vehicle for improved ability to see what is going on around the vehicle in parking lots.

Engine options include four options with three gas and one diesel with FWD or Quattro AWD. Power outputs are 150hp to 230hp paired with a six-speed manual or 7-speed S tronic. The new Q3 will begin deliveries in Europe in November 2018, it's not clear when the US launch will take place.
