Audi unveiled revised RS 5 Coupe and RS 5 Sportback

Audi has unveiled a pair of revised performance cars with the RS 5 coupe and the RS 5 Sportback. Audi says that the revision of those two models marks the successful conclusion of its 25th anniversary and the renewal of its model range. Both models have a refined exterior design that has a wider and flatter singleframe giving it a similar design as the RS 6 and RS 7 cars.

The wheel arches are 1.6-inches wider, and optional matrix LED headlights can be fitted with darkened headlight bezels. The cars have side sills and diffuser insert at the rear that envelops the two large tailpipes. Buyers can choose a gloss black, matte aluminum, and carbon styling package to give a more custom look.

For the year model, the car has Turbo blue and Tango red colors added. The coupe version gets a carbon-fiber roof with a CFRP structure that lowers the weight by about 8.8 pounds. Inside the cars are fitted with RS sport seats covered in Alcantara and leather as standard. Fine Nappa leather is an option.

One significant change is a new 10.1-inch MMI touch display that is slightly turned towards the driver. The optional Audi virtual cockpit plus adds a 12.3-inch display with an RS-specific option that gives performance metrics. Power for both comes from a 2.9-liter TFSI twin-turbo V6, making 450ps and 442.5 lb-ft of torque.

That engine will push the permanent all-wheel-drive ride to 62.1 mph in 3.9 seconds and to a top speed of 174 mph. The transmission is an 8-speed Tiptronic, and the car can be fitted with an optional sport differential. RS 5 models also get RS sport suspension as standard with sport suspension plus as an option. Both cars start at EUR 83,500 and will be available in Germany and other European countries soon.
