Audi A6 Avant is the sexy wagon we want

Audi has unveiled the new A6 Avant and it is a dead sexy wagon that we deserve here in the States. The Avant is 16.4-feet long and has a sporty, but elegant design that looks fantastic. The car is 6.2-feet wide and 4.8-feet high with a larger interior than the outgoing model. It also promises more front and rear elbow room and more knee room for rear seat passengers.

All this thing is missing is one of those rear facing seats in the back that wagons had back in the '80s. Luggage space is very large with 20 cu ft with the seats up and 59.3 cu ft with the seats down. The seats fold 40:20:40 and an electric release function or the optional trailer hitch is offered.

This might be the ideal car for road trips promising a quiet interior and room. LED headlights are standard, and all versions of the car are offered with available HD Matrix LED headlights. Driver assistance systems are in City and Tour packages. Adaptive cruise assist with narrowed road assist is offered with longitudinal and lateral control in stop-and-go traffic.

An emergency assist system will give warnings if a driver fails to react. Crossing assist detects traffic in front of the car and several other safety systems are offered. All engines have mild hybrid tech and use a 48V system. The Avant can coast between 34 and 99 mph for improved efficiency. All-wheel steering is an option and sport suspension is an option as well.

Inside the car, an 8.6-inch screen is for climate and comfort functions. The MMI navigation plus feature has a 12.3-inch screen operated with buttons on the steering wheel. Seats in the car can be optioned with ventilation and massage functions. Pricing and exact availability are unknown.
