ASUS Sees the Android Potential, Will Put Focus There and Not Windows Phone 7

In an interesting turn of events, ASUS may not actually be putting much focus on the Windows Phone 7 mobile Operating System from Microsoft. If the words from the marketing manager of ASUSTek South Africa mean anything, it looks like the company may in fact be focusing on another mobile platform altogether, and giving Microsoft's new and improved Windows Phone 7 a more "back-seat" approach.

Steven Tu, the Marketing Manager for ASUSTek in South Africa, came out and commented on the ASUS Windows Phone 7 device that was originally shown off at the official unveiling for WP7 back at the beginning of the year. Tu said, "As always, Garmin-Asus seeks the best for our consumers, either on Android platform or on Windows platform. However, we see the potential of Android platform devices, so we are focusing on Android platform currently."

If you'll recall, at Microsoft's Windows Phone 7 event in October, ASUS was nowhere to be found. There's been plenty of leaks of devices, and there was the main ASUS device that Windows Phone 7 was being shown off earlier in the year, but it looks like the company feels that Android is the place to put their efforts. Will ASUS manufacture a Windows Phone 7 device? Probably. But the question is: when?
