Apple Signs iPhone Deal With Russian Mobile Carrier Megafon

The iPhone has done very well all around the world and is one of the most popular devices out there. The problem for Apple is that the iPhone is losing market share to Android and part of the deal to get the market share back up is to get the iPhone onto all the carriers it can.

To that end, Apple has worked hard to get the iPhone in places like China. Apple is also working to get the iPhone on carriers in other countries like Russia. The iPhone 5S and 5S landed in Russia in late October. Apple has announced that it has now made a deal with another major carrier in Russia.

Russian carrier Megafon has signed a new deal with Apple that will see its subscribers get access to the iPhone. Megafon is the second largest wireless carrier in Russia. This is the second time that the carrier has offered the iPhone, but the first time in four years its subscribers have been able to get a new device on its network.

Megafon will be purchasing various iPhone models under the 3-year deal. Presumably those various models include the iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, and perhaps the older iPhone model as well.
