Apple orders thriller directed by Ben Stiller and starring Adam Scott

Apple has ordered another show for its Apple TV+ streaming service, it has been announced. Called Severance, this drama will be directed by Ben Stiller who will also be serving as executive producer. Actor Adam Scott will have the leading role in the series, which revolves around a fictional workplace called Lumen Industries.

The new original comes from Endeavor Content, according to The Hollywood Reporter, which claims that Jackie Cohn and Nicky Weinstock will join Stiller in executive producing the show. The series was created and written by Dan Erickson who is also serving as an executive producer alongside Chris Black.

Adam Scott, the actor known for his role in hit sitcom Parks and Recreation, will play the leading role of Mark in Severance. The show’s fictional Lumen Industries is described as a company dedicated to optimizing the work-like balance like never before. Mark, meanwhile, is portrayed as a man with a dark history who is ‘trying to put himself back together.’

No additional details on the plot were provided, but the report claims that Apple has ordered 10 episodes for the first season. The series will eventually debut on the company’s newly launched Apple TV+ subscription service, which is priced at a very cheap $4.99/month. The service is accessible through the Apple TV app.

Severance will join a number of other original shows currently available on Apple TV+, including See starring Jason Momoa, The Morning Show starring Jennifer Aniston and Steve Carell, among other big-name stars, plus shows like For All Mankind, Dickinson, and more.
