Appkettle smart kettle lends mobile control

Appkettle is a smart kettle that allows users to set the temperature, monitor the process, and more when warming up water for their morning coffee or afternoon soup. It works, as you'd expect, in conjunction with a mobile app lending hands-off control of the kettle, which can be left on its own in the kitchen (after the water is added, of course). The design itself is modern with a shiny outer shell, but conservative enough to blend in with most kitchens with its round shape and matte black base. According to its maker, this is the first kettle that offers volume and temperature control in real-time on a mobile device.

Appkettle is an electric kettle with a small control panel on a protruding foot coming off the base. There are two LED status indicators, as well as a couple of buttons. WiFi is used to connect with the mobile device upon which the related app is installed, which further extends the kettle's functionality in four ways.

There's volume control, as well as the ability to set a specific water temperature, schedule when the kettle is supposed to run (including a different day), how long it should run, and how long to let the water cool before you're ready to drink it. Any preferences put in can also be saved for faster use a second time around.

Appkettle, the company behind the product by the same name, is hoping to raise £165,000 in funding, with £12,224 currently being raised and 34 days remaining. A pledge of £79 will get backers a single Appkettle, which is set to eventually retail for £119.99 if all goes as planned. Shipping to backers is estimated for December.
