Android Wear 1.4 update adds new wrist gestures

Smartwatch users my have noticed that Android Wear was recently updated to version 1.4. The latest version brings new methods of control over the smartwatch to the mix including new wrist gestures. Android Wear now allows the user to navigate around on the watch using flicks of the wrist. To use Wrist Gestures, you may need to enable them on the watch.

A Gestures tutorial to help you to learn to use the gestures is integrated into the update. Turning on Wrist Gestures will decrease battery life. Using the new gestures wearers can see the first card, scroll to next card, scroll back a card, and open the apps menu.

New gestures will also allow you to pull down settings from the watch face and return to the watch face. Using the gestures proves to be a challenge at times as I am sure many have found out. My original Moto 360 never seems to want to respond to wrist gestures.

The new gestures are available on any watch running Android Wear 1.4 or higher. Exactly when the update will roll out to your watch is unclear. The only device confirmed for the new update so far is the LG Watch Urbane 2.
