Amazon.com cuts back on packaging

As more and more companies make strides to be green, Amazon.com is definitely falling right in line with everyone else. In fact, the famous online store is cutting back on their packaging to better the environment.

Up until now, Amazon would ship other people's products in their brown boxes, even if the products were already in a box. This double-boxing is rather wasteful. Instead of this waste, you can now expect to receive items from Amazon in plain cardboard boxes with the company's name and sometimes the retailer's name.

This is especially good news for items sold in unnecessarily large packaging like memory cards and other items sold in brick and mortar stores. The funny thing is, this new packaging endeavor is called "Frustration-Free Packaging Initiative." This new packaging idea will only be used on 19 different products to start with, though it will hopefully roll out on other products in the near future.
