The streaming wars are heating up between Netflix and Amazon Prime Instant Video. Netflix typically gets all the cool shows as an exclusive, but that is changing. Amazon has announced that it has added a new FX show to its line of streaming programs as an exclusive for Prime Instant Video Streaming subscribers.
The show is the FX series The Americans that debuted last year. The show is a spy thriller that was liked by critics and fans alike and follows a couple posing as normal Americans that are actually Russian spies during the cold war era.
Amazon says that the first season of The Americans is turning up on Prime Instant Video just in time for fans to catch up before the season two premiere on FX set for February 26. The series stars Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys.
The deal between Amazon and Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution also includes other shows that fans will appreciate. The most important of those, at least to me, is Archer. Netflix has Archer already, but season four is missing. I hope Season four lands with Amazon. Archer, How I Met Your Mother, It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, The League, and Louie will all be available on Prime Instant video next month.
