Almond router update enables Nest integration

Securifi is a company that makes the cool Almond+ and Almond 2015 routers. Those routers have been updated to support Nest products. Say the word Nest and we immediately think of the Nest thermostat, but Nest has other products to its name like the Protect smoke alarm and Cam security camera. Nest integration adds another layer of control for the router that already has integration for Zigbee, Z-Wave, and Phillips Hue devices.

Nest integration with the routers brings WiFi triggers that are able to change the thermostat to a different temperature when you arrive home and connect to the WiFi network the routers create. Almond routers can also work out an average temperature between two smartphone users in the home.

That means if you like the thermostat set at 65 degrees and your spouse wants it at 70 degrees, Almond routers can tell the Nest thermostat to run at 68 degrees. The routers can also operate actions that allow you to interact with multiple devices in the home at once.

For instance, when you go to bed the router can tell the hue lights to turn off, lock the door, and set your Nest thermostat for a comfortable night temperature. Granted many of these functions are already part of the Nest features themselves, but having all the controls in one place might be appealing to some users. Almond routers should be able to get the update with Nest support today.
