All-new BMW 3 Series gets official, M Sport version is coming

BMW has gone official with the latest version of its 3 Series sedan and the car is all-new. It certainly looks a lot like the outgoing model, and that is to be expected with the popularity of the 3 Series globally. This is the seventh generation of the car and promises enhanced sportiness, a new design language, and extensive refinements. The world premiere of the new 3 Series will be at the Mondial de l'Automobile in Paris.

The new 3 Series will be available globally in March 2019. BMW is using six engine variants in the car from launch including four-cylinder gas and diesel offerings along with a 6-cylinder diesel unit. Power output ranges from 150hp to 265hp. An intelligent all-wheel-drive version is offered at launch in the BMW 320d xDrive sedan.

BMW notes that over the course of the year, the "ultra-sporty" BMW M Performance version will debut along with a plug-in hybrid version. Sharper driving dynamics are promised with new M Sport suspension with a lower ride height, Adaptive M suspension, variable steering, M Sport brakes, an electronically controlled M Sport differential, and 19-inch light-alloy wheels.

There will be multiple lines for the 3 Series including Advantage, Sport Line, Luxury Line, and M Sport models. 3 Series models get as standard full-LED headlights, darkened LED rear lights, and available Adaptive LED headlights with BMW Laserlight high beam. The new rides offer more shoulder and elbow room in the front seats, rearward visibility is significantly improved, and trunk capacity is up.

LED interior lights are standard with ambient lighting and Welcome Light Carpet as an option. The standard audio system has six speakers with an optional Harman Kardon surround sound system with 16-speakers as an option. Wireless smartphone charging is optional with dual USB ports and Bluetooth standard. Performance and pricing data is unannounced at this time.
