After seven years, Bayonetta finally arrives on PC

Back in the days of the Xbox 360 and the PlayStation 3, you may remember gamers making a lot of noise about a game named Bayonetta. The Platinum-made action game found a lot of fans when it first launched back in 2010, but one notable oversight is the fact that it never made it to PC. That all changes today, as Sega and Platinum Games have release Bayonetta on Steam.

This doesn't appear to be some cash-grab PC port of questionable quality, either. Instead, Sega promises 60 frames per second gameplay at resolutions up to 4K with customizable settings like anti-aliasing, anisotropic filtering, and SSAO lighting. There's also mouse and keyboard support, though Sega says that Bayonetta is best played with a controller.

Indeed, some early Steam reviewers are saying that this is an example of a good PC port, so it doesn't look like your $20 will go to waste. If you buy before April 25, Sega is willing to throw in some digital goodies to make a "Digital Deluxe Edition." Those extras include a digital artbook, a soundtrack sampler, desktop wallpapers, and steam avatars.

So, it looks like that 8-bit version of Bayonetta Platinum and Sega put together for April Fools was indeed signaling the release of Bayonetta on Steam. Unfortunately, this may be all we PC players get from the Bayonetta series on PC – since Nintendo funded Bayonetta 2, don't be surprised to see that game remain exclusive for Nintendo consoles.

Still, this game's loyal following will tell you that some Bayonetta is better than no Bayonetta, so if you never had a chance to play it, it might be worth checking out on Steam. Perhaps this means that a Bayonetta 3 announcement is coming around the bend? Time will tell, but it wouldn't be shocking to hear that Platinum and Sega have something else planned.
