36M Netbooks to be purchased in 2010

According to research firm Techaisle there will be 36 million netbooks purchased by consumers and businesses in 2010. That number would be a growth of 13% compared to 2009. The penetration of the netbook in business is predicted to be 5.3% and in the consumer market is will hit 1.8%.

The company thinks that there will be a short shift away from netbooks in some established markets and in a few emerging markets as well. However, after 2010 the company predicts that the growth of netbooks will slow until 2013 to 2014.

What exactly is going to happen then isn't mentioned. As always the company says that the netbook is a good choice for the student on the move and for businesses looking for an easily portable machine possibly as an add on to a notebook already in use.
