300: Rise of an Empire trailer brings Sparta back to the big screen

It'll be several more months until this film will be able to be seen in full, but here the film 300: Rise of an Empire begins its march with a full-length trailer. No teaser trailer, no news release for a teaser – straight into a two minute and thirty second epic. Here we'll have essentially the same cast and crew behind and in front of the camera too: less 299 soldiers, of course.

Xerxes returns to Frank Miller's environment of blood here in 2014, March of next year where the comic-esque animated-yet-live-action cinematography continues. This is one of two stories that will not end with Frank Miller's original graphic novels as source material, mind you: Sin City is set to have a second chapter as well.

Inside this follow-up to the original "300", actress Lena Headey reprises her role as the Queen of Sparta: continuing therefor a bit of type-casing on her part for the role of a high-powered leader of ancient peoples. She's Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones as well, of course. She also took up the role of head of evil in the 2012 Dredd film as well as MA-MA.

She'll be joined by Rodrigo Santoro as Xerxes (his role reprised as well), and of course David Wenham as the one-eyed survivor of the 300, Dilios. As with the previous installment, this 300 is sure to be another R-rated blood-drenched action film with no lack of graphics finesse.
