2020 Ford Super Duty can tow up to 24,200 pounds
Ford has announced the towing and payload specifications of the 2020 Ford Super Duty line of trucks. The towing and payload specifications are impressive. The Super Duty line will be available with a 6.7-liter Power Stroke diesel V8 or the new 7.3-liter gas V8 in addition to the standard 6.2-liter gas V8.
The Power Stroke diesel makes 475hp and 1,050 ft-lbs of torque. The 7.3L gas V8 produces 430hp and 475 ft-lb of torque. With that much power underfoot, a properly configured diesel-powered 2020 Super Duty truck can tow a maximum gooseneck weight of 37,000 pounds.
The maximum weight for a fifth-wheel is 32,500 pounds, and the maximum conventional towing capability is 24,200. The maximum payload capacity is 7,850 pounds with the standard 6.2-liter gas engine. Ford is proud to say that its 2020 Super Duty is the first diesle-powered truck to surpass the 1,000 ft-lb of torque mark without having to add additional options.
Ford says that the new 2020 Super Duty trucks have six key best-in-class HD pickup claims for sull-size trucks over 8,500 pounds. Those include:
Ford is also offering the Super Duty trucks with more technology, including an available Pro Trailer Backup Assist. The trucks also have FordPass connect with an embedded 4G LTE model with WiFi access for up to ten devices. Inside, the trucks have wireless charting and USB-C port for compatible phones.
