BMW has announced a new version of the BMW M5 for 2020 that is meant to celebrate 35 years since the debut of the first M5 model. The car is called the 2020 BMW M5 Edition 35 Years. This is a limited edition car that will be offered globally with only 350 units being made. Of that 350 units, only 35 of them will come to the US.
The US spec cars will be made in September and October of 2019 and will have exclusive BMW Individual exterior and interior features. The Edition 35 Year Package will include BMW Individual equipment combined with the performance capabilities of the M5 Competition. The exterior of the model comes in BMW Individual Frozen Dark Grey II metallic paint.
The paint has a special pigment to create the appearance of a silk matte surface finish. It rolls on 20 inch M light alloy Y-spoke wheels that are finished in Graphite Gray and are exclusive to the model. Buyers also get M compound brake system calipers in high-gloss black along with badge deletion from the trunk.
Inside the car is fitted with M Sport sets finished in BMW Individual Merino black full leather with contrasting beige stitching. The center console, door trim, and instrument panel are finished in shimmering, gold anodized aluminum structures as standard. All M5 Edition 35 Year Package cars include the M5 Executive Package and M Driver’s Package.
The heart of the 2020 BMW M5 Edition 35 Years car is the M TwinPower Turbocharged 4.4L V8 generating 617 hp and 553 lb-ft of torque. The car promises 0-60 mph in 3.1 seconds with 124 mph coming in 10.8 seconds. The transmission is an 8-speed Steptronic, and the car has M xDrive. The MSRP for the limited edition model is $128,995 including destination and gas guzzler tax.
