2019 Subaru Forester starts at $500 more than outgoing model

Subaru has announced the pricing on the 2019 Forester SUV. Starting prices have climbed by $500 compared to the 2018 model and EyeSight is now standard on all versions of the Forester. Subaru has also added a new Sport version for 2019.

The price for a base 2019 Forester is $24,295. The vehicle will hit dealers this fall and there will be Base, Premium, Sport, Limited, and Touring trims offered for 2019. This is the roomiest and most capable Forester ever according to Subaru. In addition to standard EyeSight safety equipment, the Touring trim gets a DriverFocus system.

All Forester models get standard LED low and high beam headlights and an all-new design. All trims have seven airbags and Subaru's all-wheel-drive system. The DriverFocus system on Touring trim uses facial recognition tech to identify signs of driver fatigue or distraction and delivers both audio and visual warnings to alert the driver.

That system works in conjunction with the standard EyeSight system to help reduce accidents. Power for all 2019 Forester versions is from a 2.5L Subaru Boxer engine making 182hp and 176 lb-ft of torque via a standard CVT transmission. The new Forester is good for 33 mpg on the highway and supports 1,500 pounds of towing.

Trailer Stability Assist is standard along with standard Auto Vehicle Hold and Electronic Parking Brake. The wheelbase is increased to 105.1-inches from the 103.9-inches previously adding in 1.4-inches more rear seat legroom. Cargo capacity has also grown to 76.1 cu. ft. for a gain of 1.4 cu. ft. The cargo area also has a squared shape for easier hauling of large objects. Pricing is $25,270 for base, $27,670 for Premium, $29,770 for Sport, $31,770 for Limited, and $35,270 for Touring. Options are offered for all trims except Touring that will drive the base price up.
