2019 Jeep Renegade gains all-new 1.3L turbo four and 9-speed automatic
Jeep has launched the 2019 Renegade and the little ride has some big changes for 2019. One of the major changes is the all-new 1.3L turbo four-cylinder engine that is mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission. Jeep says that fancy new automatic transmission is a segment first and will deliver on-road and off-road driving dynamics for owners.
The engine features engine start-stop technology promising increased fuel efficiency and reduced emissions and is standard on the Limited and Trailhawk models and optional on Sport and Latitude. The engine makes 177hp and 200 lb-ft of torque. The 2019 Renegade has a refreshed exterior and interior with new front fascias and a new grille surround. The wheels are new and among them are 19-inch units that are an option for Latitude and Limited models.
Jeep has added new colors into the mix including Bikini, Slate Blue, and Sting Gray, those colors will be late availability. An LED lighting group is an option with LED headlamps, daytime running lamps, cornering fog lamps and tail lamps. Jeep is also offering new features in the Advanced Tech Group with adaptive cruise control, ParkSense, Parallel/Perpendicular Park Assist Plus and front park sensors.
The instrument cluster is all new. The standard engine on Sport and Latitude models is the 2.4L Tigershark unit the vehicle had before. Jeep continues to offer Active Drive and Active Drive Low 4x4 systems with five driving modes. The low range drive is offered on the Trailhawk version.
Renegade buyers also get segment-exclusive disconnecting rear axle and power take-off unit for better fuel economy. For 2019, the My Sky roof panel system is still available. Bluetooth, Android Auto, and CarPlay are supported on some versions of the vehicle. Pricing and availability are unannounced currently.
