2019 Honda Civic gets refreshed, adds Sport trim

Honda has unveiled the refreshed 2019 Civic coupe and sedan that builds on the 10th generation Civic line. Along with updated styling, 2019 also brings a new Sport trim to the series. The front of the car was tweaked to accentuate the low and wide stance and sporty looks. The upper fascia wing is piano black, and the lower fascia, bumper, and grille are restyled.

The Civic can be had with restyled halogen or LED headlights and a chrome accent on the lower rear bumper for the sedan. Both the coupe and sedan get new wheel designs with the Touring trim getting larger 18-inch wheels. Honda is positioning the new Sport trim between the LX and EX trims.

Honda says that the Sport trim will offer looks and features that budget-conscious enthusiasts are looking for. That trim gets the chrome polygonal exhaust finisher like the Civic SI. That car gets a 2.0L 16-valve DOHC i-VTEC engine with a CVT auto or 6-speed manual. Sport trims also get an updated 7-inch Display audio system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Honda is working hard to roll out its Honda Sensing driver safety system to all its cars by 2022. The 2019 Civic will get Honda Sensing as standard on Civic Coupe and Sedan from LX to Touring models. That system includes Collision Mitigation Braking System (CMBS) with Forward Collision Warning; Road Departure Mitigation (RDM) incorporating Lane Departure Warning (LDW); Lane Keeping Assist System (LKAS); and Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC).

Pricing hasn't been announced yet for the refreshed 2019 Civic models. This is a big seller for Honda with claims that it is the retail #1 car in America. It is also hailed as the most popular car with the under 35 crowd in America for eight of the past nine years.
