2019 Genesis G70 debuts with available 6-speed manual and Brembo brakes

Genesis has rolled out its 2019 G70 at the New York Auto Show and the car looks cool. The G70 aims at the entry-level luxury segment and slots into the Genesis range beneath the G80 and G90 cars. The G70 will come to the US with three powertrain configurations and five trim packages.

Among the three powertrain configurations are two engines with a 252hp 2.0L turbo four and a 365hp 3.3L twin-turbo V6. Rear drive is standard on both versions with all-wheel drive optional. An 8-speed automatic sport tune transmission with paddle shifters is offered with either engine. The bigger engine will push the car to 60mph in 4.5 seconds.

Purists wanting a manual gearbox will be able to get a 6-speed manual with the 2.0L, rear-wheel drive version of the car. All versions of the G70 have launch control. Options include Brembo brakes with fixed four-piston front calipers and two-piston rear. 19-inch wheels with Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tires are available.

Genesis fits the cars with driver assistance systems including Forward Collision Avoidance Assist with Pedestrian Detection, Blind Spot Collision Warning, Lane Keeping Assist, and Driver Attention Warning comprising the Genesis Active Safety Control suite.

Genesis says that the G70 will hit showrooms this summer in eight colors. The colors include Victoria Black, Casablanca White, Himalayan Grey, Santiago Silver, Adriatic Blue, Mallorca Blue, Havana Red, and Siberian Ice. Pricing will be announced closer to launch.
