2019 Ford Ranger Gallery

Welcome back to a pickup icon. Ford has taken the wraps off the 2019 Ranger, the new midsize truck which will bear the classic name. Borrowing tech from the F-150, but in a more city-friendly package, it's Ford's attempt to do for the midsize segment what the best-selling F-150 has done for full-sized trucks.

The strategy includes borrowing an engine, namely the 2.3-liter EcoBoost turbo. It's paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, and the choice of 2WD or 4WD. An FX4 Off-Road Package will be offered too, including an electronic-locking rear differential among other trail niceties.

Inside, there'll be new driver-assistance technology, including optional adaptive cruise control, lane-keeping assistance, blind spot warnings, and more. SYNC 3 – with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto – will be optional, putting an 8-inch touchscreen in the center console. Expect it to arrive in dealerships early in 2019.
