Yelp and ProPublica give health care stats for medical facilities

Yelp has announced that it has teamed with ProPublica to bring consumers information about their health care provider and medical facilities. The information bring statistics, consumer opinions, and more on 25,000 treatment facilities around the country including information on 4,600 hospitals, 15,000 nursing homes, and 6,300 dialysis clinics in the US.

ProPublica compiles the information from its own research and data from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid services. The information provided via this partnership will be updated quarterly. Hovering over the about this provider text on the page will give detailed statistics on the facility.

Those stats offer information on fines paid, serious deficiencies, and payment suspensions. Information on businesses like dialysis centers also shows patient survival rate and other details. Yelp has also announced that it has plans to add more data to all its categories.

It will add more restaurant health scores for cities across the US. It's also working on the ability to aid cities in making decisions to inspect restaurants faster and discover outbreaks. The partnership with ProPublica will expand in the future to add new categories of information. Exactly what those new categories of information will cover is unannounced.
