Xenoblade Chronicles 2 headlines the next Nintendo Direct
The Nintendo Switch had enjoyed a big year so far. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild started a string of successful first-party releases for Nintendo's newest console that brought us all the way up to last week's launch of Super Mario Odyssey. Those two games on their own are enough to make Switch owners happy, but Nintendo isn't quite done yet.
At the beginning of December, Nintendo is scheduled to launch Xenoblade Chronicles 2 for the Switch. While probably not nearly as anticipated as Super Mario Odyssey or Breath of the Wild, Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is still the follow up to an RPG that almost never saw the light of day here in the US. That alone should get at least a few people excited.
If, on the other hand, you're left wondering what Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is all about, you'll want to tune into the next Nintendo Direct broadcast. Nintendo announced today that it will broadcast a new Nintendo Direct about Xenoblade Chronicles 2 on Tuesday, November 7 at 6 AM Pacific time. You Xenoblade fans on the west coast will want to set an early alarm, it seems.
This will likely be a broadcast dedicated exclusively to Xenoblade Chronicles 2, as Nintendo hasn't teased any additional details for it. Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is the last major first-party release for the Switch in 2017, so here's hoping that the Switch's year ends with a bang instead of a whimper.
Of course, Nintendo has plenty more first-party games planned for the Switch once we're into 2018, but most of those don't have solid release dates just yet. At any rate, it's going to be hard to follow up 2017 in terms of major releases, and capping it all off with an epic RPG in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 seems like an excellent send off to a stellar year. You can watch next week's Nintendo Direct over on Nintendo's website starting at 6 AM Pacific, 9 AM Eastern on Tuesday.
