Xbox Game Pass promo: $1 for a month, plus 10 new games inbound

Earlier this year, Microsoft launched its own alternative to Sony's PlayStation Now subscription, and it's called Xbox Game Pass. With Xbox Game Pass, subscribers get access to more than 100 Xbox One and Xbox 360 games, which are streamed over the Internet in the same way that Netflix streams movies. Xbox's streaming game subscription is usually $10/month, but a promotion currently has it priced at $1/month.

The idea behind streaming game subscriptions like Xbox Game Pass is that you can get access to a large number of games on-demand for a set monthly rate. You don't own any of these games, meaning you lose access as soon as you stop subscribing.

However, it is a great way to play a bunch of titles without having to pay a fortune, and there's a reasonable chance you won't care to play many of these games a second time regardless. You don't need an Xbox Live Gold membership to get an Xbox Game Pass, with the exception of online multiplayer, in which case the Live Gold membership is still required.

Unfortunately, Game Pass is only available on the Xbox One console, so Xbox 360 owners are left out of the mix, though some backward compatible Xbox 360 games are provided through the subscription. The Game Pass library currently contains "over 100 games," according to Microsoft, and that number is about to get a little bigger. Starting next month, Microsoft will add ten new titles to the Game Pass library. The new games are listed below:

NBA Playgrounds

Injustice: Gods Among Us

Devil May Cry 4: Special Edition

Fuzion Frenzy

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

Deadlight: Director's Cut

Zoo Tycoon: Ultimate Animal Collection

WRC 5: World Rally Championship

Tecmo Bowl Throwback
