Third-gen HD DVD players unveiled by Toshiba

If you're a supporter of the HD DVD camp and you're thinking about purchasing a new player to show your devotion, you might want to hold off another month or two. Toshiba has just unveiled their new third-gen line of HD DVD players.

The three new models will come in a much smaller package, being only about half the thickness of current players. The HD-A3 will be the entry model with 1080i output, The HD-A30 will bump you up to 1080p and CEC while the HD-A35 will give you HDMI 1.3 output and support for 5.1-channel analog and 7.1 HDMI surround output.

The first to arrive will be the mid-range HD-A30 which will show up sometime next month for $400, the HD-A3 and HD-A35 will debut in October for $300 and $500 respectively.
