The Biggest PS4 Games Announced At Paris Games Week
The Paris Games Week convention is currently underway in, well, Paris, and like the US's E3 and Japan's Tokyo Game Show earlier this year, Sony is using the European show to unveil and show off some of the latest titles for the market-leading PlayStation 4. In addition to several new and original games, including Detroit, WiLD, and Robinson: The Journey, there were several unexpected announcements of new entries in existing hit franchises, such as Tekken 7 and Gran Turismo Sport.
There are so many games being shown at the PS4 booth at Paris Games Week (PGW), that it's almost impossible to cover them all in detail in a few paragraphs, so here's our list of some of the biggest, most exciting titles to look out for in the coming months, from both new and long-running series, along with their trailers.
Tekken 7 – 2015 marks the 20th anniversary of this hit fighting game series, with the original having debuting on the first PlayStation in 1995. The seventh entry promises to continue the soap-opera story of the Mishima clan, which has spanned across the first six games, but will finally bring a conclusion to the battle between father Heihachi and son Kazuya. There's no firm release date yet, but developer Bandai Namco says the PS4 version will incorporate PlayStation VR functionality.
Detroit: Become Human – The newest game from Heavy Rain developer Quantic Dream. Based on a tech demo from 2012, Detroit is about an android named Kara with the ability to feel emotions. With a goal of exploring ideas of what it means to be human, artificial intelligence, and how the public reacts to such concepts, this is shaping up to be a deep-thinking title.
Gran Turismo Sport – The latest in the PlayStation's influential racing series, Sony clarifies, however, that this is not Gran Turismo 7. Instead, Sport sounds like it's intended as a sub-entry in the series between the numbered releases, a bit like 2007's Gran Turismo Prologue. GT Sport is also going to include PlayStation VR features, along with a focus on online championship races, based on either car manufacturer or nationality. A beta is scheduled for release in 2016.
Robinson: The Journey – Another PlayStation VR showcase title, this time from Crysis developers Crytek. As an explorer who crash-lands on planet filled with dinosaurs, players must try to survive its many mysteries, along with a stampede or two.
WiLD – A brand new title from the creator of Rayman, WiLD is an open-world game full of beautiful landscapes and animals. Players control a warrior with the ability to posses these creatures, but without a doubt the highlight is the ability to ride a bear.
Street Fighter V – Capcom's latest has already seen plenty of spotlight time this year, but two big pieces of info were revealed at PGW about the latest Street Fighter: The game will be released on February 16, 2016 in North America, and the latest character added to the roster is the often-seen Dhalsim.
