Tesla brings in new HR leader following mistreatment allegations

Tesla is in the midst of heavy criticism following allegations from workers and others over working conditions. A report surfaced recently via The Guardian claiming poor Tesla factory worker conditions resulting in one hundred ambulance visits over the last three years. While these allegations continue to roll in, Tesla has announced the appointment of a new HR leader, not stating the reasons for its former HR chief's departure.

Tesla has stated big ambitions, and big ambitions require a lot of work. Some factory workers have cropped up through various mediums alleging issues ranging from an uptick in injuries to high stress. Speaking to The Guardian, Tesla production technician Jonathan Galescu said, "I've seen people pass out, hit the floor like a pancake and smash their face open. They just send us to work around him while he's lying on the floor."

The accusations continued from there, including allegations of 'pervasive harassment' by a female engineer, who said she was paid less than male coworkers for the same work, as well as being stiffed for promotions and more. There's also allegations of racism, violence, and sexual harassment.

Whether the HR shuffle is related to these allegations is anyone's guess, as the company hasn't stated a reason for the new appointment. In a statement recently, Tesla said that it is bringing in Gaby Toledano as its new 'Chief People Officer,' replacing Arnnon Geshuri who served as HR lead for eight years. According to Tesla, 'Arnnon will be taking a short break before moving on to a new endeavor. We're grateful for all that he has done for Tesla.'
