ARCHOS IFA 2015 smartphone team: 2 Android, 1 Windows 10

With IFA around the corner, it's time for manufacturers to put out their wares. And French OEM ARCHOS will definitely not be left behind. It isn't anything out of the ordinary for it to announce new members of its Android smartphone roster but it is somewhat a surprise, perhaps even a pleasant one, to see it put out a Window 10 smartphone. This makes it one of the first few manufacturers to reveal a new device that will run Microsoft's new OS tailored to fit small sizes.

Samsung outs R1, R3, R5 Wireless Audio 360 speakers

Piling on the pre-IFA 2015 announcements, Samsung has just revealed three new speakers that make up its Wireless Audio 360 family. No weird egg shape this time. The R1, R3, and R5 wireless speakers are plain but stylish, industrial-looking and practical. Not only do they blast your music in all directions, their now flat tops also transform into a user interface area where owners can tap and swipe to control their tunes. Plus, the speakers work well with Samsung's Multiroom experience, bringing music and life to any part of the house.

LG has four more 4K OLED TVs to display at IFA 2015

LG has four more 4K OLED TVs to display at IFA 2015

Albert Einstein defined insanity as doing the same thing over and over again yet expecting different results. That definition might seem appropriate with LG's strategy of inundating the consumer market with model after model of 4K UHD smart TVs. But since it's almost time for IFA 2015, the manufacturer could be excused for trying to push harder a segment that is worryingly stagnating. Introducing the two EF9500s, ED9200, and the curved EG9100, LG's latest hurrah for the Smart TV segment, on top of the 9 others it already launched this year.

ASUS teases a collection of devices they'll likely unveil in full at IFA 2015 starting on the 4th of September. One video shows off a set of devices - at least three, by the looks of it - each with classic ASUS industrial design. The first and most obvious of these is the new ASUS ZenWatch. This device will take on a form not all that unlike the first ZenWatch revealed at IFA 2014, just under one year ago, in Berlin, Germany.

Sony teases an Xperia with greater focus, not a greater Xperia

Sony teases an Xperia with greater focus, not a greater Xperia

It's IFA time soon, and naturally, almost anyone and everyone in the tech industry are ready to make a splash. Including Sony. But if you were perhaps hoping for some redeeming smartphone, it might be time to rein in those expectations. Sony's UK Twitter account just teased something for its pre-IFA 2015 event, hinting at a smarpthone with a better focus, presumably a better camera. It is, however, sadly silent on whether we can also expect a better Xperia smartphone to go along with that.

LG G Pad II 10.1 revealed, no word on 8.0 sibling

LG does have a tablet in store for IFA 2015 next week, but it's not the G Pad II 8.0 that suddenly popped up in South Korea. It is, however, also a G Pad II, LG's next generation tablet family. The LG G Pad II 10.1 is, as the name suggests, larger and, to some degree, also better, though it might be a tad disappointing for those looking for a more premium tablet champion from the Korean manufacturer, perhaps an indicator of the growing unrest in the tablet market.

All with sharp angles and an aim for a place in your extravagant gaming PC and Android tablet-loving heart.

Microsoft’s IFA Keynote curiously leaves out smartphones

Microsoft’s IFA Keynote curiously leaves out smartphones

Microsoft has definitely been sending mixed, not to mention confusing, signals about smartphones lately. Even before Windows 10 Mobile or even Windows 10 itself hits the streets, Microsoft has already put its own smartphone business on notice. With IFA 2015 a month or so away, Microsoft is undoubtedly busy preparing for a post Windows 10 launch report. But while the company will be one of those to deliver a keynote there, the announcement ominously makes no mention of smartphones, hinting, at the very least, that we won't see one in September.
