Star Wars: Battlefront II Revealed With Imperial-Focused Story Campaign
In case you haven't heard, there's a little event known as the Star Wars Celebration going on this weekend, and game publisher EA has used it to pull the curtain back on Star Wars: Battlefront II. A new, full trailer was premiered, focusing on the game's new single-player campaign and in-depth canon story that puts players in the role of the bad guys; specifically Iden Versio, the leader of Inferno Squadron, an elite special forces unit.Battlefront II's story will pick up right after the events of Return of the Jedi, and fill in the 30-year gap leading up to The Force Awakens. Iden, described as a TIE Fighter pilot and commando hybrid, sees the second Death Star destroyed from the moon of Endor and vows to avenge the Empire and defeat the Rebel scum.
While the bad guys are getting the center spotlight this time around, players will still get to experience things from the heroes point of view at times, including one mission that puts them in the role of none other than Luke Skywalker. The game will also introduce a new planet to the Star Wars universe: Vardos, Iden's home world and an "Imperial utopia" where followers of the Empire are raised.
Along with the new narrative campaign, Battlefront II will feature a greatly expanded multiplayer mode, spanning locations and characters from the entire Star Wars universe, including the original, prequel, and new trilogies, and appearances from the likes of Darth Maul, Kylo Ren, and Rey. Players can also expect a renewed focus on vehicle and space battle gameplay, something that was more of an afterthought in 2015's Battlefront.
Star Wars: Battlefront II is schedule for release on November 17th for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC. Pre-orders will get access to DLC content that includes Rey and Kylo Ren costumes from The Last Jedi, and a yet-to-be-revealed First Order TIE Fighter.
