Star Wars Battlefront 2 launches this year with story mode

Star Wars Battlefront is a pretty decent game if you're into multiplayer shooters, but it has one big glaring fault: the complete lack of a story mode. That's a big source of criticism revolving around the game, and it'll be changing in the game's sequel. Star Wars Battlefront 2 is in the pipeline, and it has been confirmed that it'll feature a proper single-player campaign story mode.

In a post on its blog yesterday, EA touched on the topic of the game, saying Star Wars Battlefront 2 will be the brainchild of DICE, as well as studios Motive and Criterion. The blog post doesn't go into anymore detail, saying there will be more information in the future, but some extra info was revealed during the company's recent earnings call.

The first thing we learned is that we'll have to wait until this upcoming holiday season to get access to the sequel. We can expect to see an expanded array of content compared to the original game, including a single-player campaign that would have no doubt won the game more favor with Star Wars fans had it been offered originally.

We can expect to see additional heroes in Star Wars Battlefront 2, as well as new locations not available in the original game. We don't know what heroes or locations are planned, however. There's speculation that we'll see content from The Force Awakens, but that has not been explicitly confirmed.
