Snapchat tipped in live sports broadcasting effort

Snapchat has been rolling out different features over the months, and though it can't seen to do so without some sort of issue cropping up, that hasn't stopped it yet. According to new sources that have cropped up, the disappearing-selfie service is looking to bring live sports broadcasting to its sharing platform, and it will be kicking it off (assuming that all goes as planned) with the NCAA Final Four. Neither Snapchat nor others have confirmed the rumor at this time.

The information comes from Digiday, which says it received word on the matter from "multiple media executives" that are familiar with the effort. This would be the latest in Snapchat's media push, and would see users getting access to live sports in "Our Story" covering various yet-unspecified sporting events.

Snapchat is reportedly looking to strike deals with different broadcast networks and sports leagues, included among them being both Turner and the NCAA. The service is said to be exploring brand sponsorships, the revenue from which it'll then be splitting thrice among itself, the related sports league, and the network broadcasters. Negotiations are said to be taking place.

Among those negotiations, Snapchat is said to be nearing a deal with the Final Four Stories in particular, at least according to executives informed about the deal. All of this will involve the Our Story feature, which Snapchat first introduced last summer.
