Sennheiser HD 1 Pink Floyd headphones are inspired by 'Dark Side of the Moon'

Sennheiser has unveiled an upcoming rendition of its HD 1 headphones, the collectible 'Dark Side of the Moon' special edition. This model will be released in commemoration of the band and in time for the "The Pink Floyd Exhibition: 'Their Mortal Remains.'" The exhibition went live on Saturday, while the headphones themselves will be arriving for fans to purchase starting the end of next month. Preorders, however, are open now.

The Sennheiser HD 1 wireless over-ear headphones feature a design inspired by the iconic album, and this includes rainbow stitching on the leather portion of the headband. The ear cups, as shown in the photo, have what Sennheiser describes as a 'pearlescent rainbow sheen,' as well as the prism symbol which is engraved into the material.

To mark the special occasion, the headphones also feature a name plate that reads 'Their Mortal Remains' after the exhibition, of which the company is an official audio partner. Overall, Sennheiser describes the headphones as having an 'ultra-exclusive design' that you won't find on its other products. The headphones themselves, meanwhile, bring wireless connectivity, active noise cancellation, and proprietary transducers.

Talking about the new model, Sennheiser's co-CEO Daniel Sennheiser said:

It is a true pleasure to mark this major cultural event with a dedicated new version of the MOMENTUM that celebrates both design and an enduring love of music. This is also a wonderful way to continue our history as a company working with Pink Floyd.

The HD 1 edition Pink Floyd headphones are priced at $499.95 USD — the company goes into great detail about them here, as well as providing links to exhibition tickets.
