RuBot II Solves Rubik's Cube in Under 23 Seconds

The Rubik's Cube is one of the most challenging items out there, even if it is just a toy. Giving plenty of people unneeded stress as they try to solve the cube — matching solid colors to one side of the block, before the whole block showcases solid colors on each side. But, if you've got your hands on a Cube that you can't quite solve, perhaps you should seek out the RuBot II, which is designed specifically to solve the cube in just a matter of seconds.

Pete Redmond is the designer behind RuBot II, and as you might have guessed from the name, it is the second version. The robot was shown off at the Hall of Science in Queens, New York as part of the first World Maker Faire. For RuBot II to solve a Rubik's Cube, it has to be mixed up, and then the 'bot has to be calibrated. Once that is finalized, the technician puts the Cube in the robot's hands, and in no time the cube will be completely solved. There's a video of RuBot II solving one such cube below. RuBot II has successfully made it into the Guinness Book of World Records, which is impressive in of itself.
