Roccat 'Sick City' Is Maker's First Foray Into Video Game Development
Roccat is getting into the video game development business with its new Roccat Games Studio and its first game: Sick City. This will be Roccat's first in-house game, and it'll center around 'real-time tactical combat' gameplay, according to the company. Player feedback will be 'deeply' integrated into the core development decisions that Roccat makes, the company says; the new Games Studio will also be giving Sick City is own 'unique interpretation' of such tactical combat games.
Roccat says it has used a distinct artwork style that gamers will associate with the company itself, and that while the game's various vehicles and factions will differ from each other, they'll all ultimately be 'instantly recognizable' due to their style. The game itself will be set in some variety of post-apocalyptic world, though details on it are still slight at this time.
The game's website says that gamers will 'battle for ultimate domination' in Sick City's streets. The game will feature up to 4v4 squad fights in the street, building-to-building battles, and the goal of getting control of a crystalline energy source called 'Aimo.' If you'd like to try the game out yourself as soon as possible, Roccat is seeking some people to apply for access to the closed Alpha starting next month. This will involve finding bugs and providing feedback.
Unfortunately, Roccat didn't provide any additional information about the game, and so we'll have to wait to find out more about the characters, weapons, and similar. Anyone interested in participating in the Alpha stage testing can apply now on the Sick City website. Roccat hasn't revealed when the game will be released, nor which platforms it will be available on.
