Resident Evil 7 4D Candle is a 'horror-scented' VR accessory

There's so-called 4D gaming, which is usually a VR game joined by items that engaged other senses — a rumbling seat when you're 'driving' over cobble roads, maybe, or an authentic scent to match your VR environment. Here to bring about that latter element, in a roundabout sort of way, is an official Resident Evil 7 biohazard "4D" candle that supposedly smells like the interior of the game's Baker House Mansion.

Now, it should be pointed out that because this is a video game, the Baker House Mansion doesn't actually have a scent...because it doesn't really exist. You can't make a candle to match the scent of a virtual home. You can, though, light a candle and pretend it is the way the inside of the mansion would smell were it a real location. And so thusly the 4D candle was born.

This isn't some random item made to capitalize on fandom (unless you're very cynical, that is), but instead is an actual licensed Capcom product from Numskull. The candle itself was made in the UK, and doesn't include any actual fragrance notes, so we have no idea what it smells like aside from, per Numskull's description, "horror-scented."

The idea here is that you light the 4D candle, then you put on your PSVR headset and play Resident Evil 7 biohazard, the candle's scent helping titillate your senses as you scare yourself spitless. Or something like that. The candle burns for 25 hours and is priced at about 10 GBP. If that's too steep for your tastes, you could just light any ole candle and get the same (unofficial) experience.
