Razer Edge pre-orders begin March 1

Razer showed off their new Edge gaming tablet at CES last month. We even got our hands on the new device to see what makes it so special, and now the company has announced that pre-orders for the new tablet will begin on March 1 at 12:01 pm PT, with shipments going out at some point later that month.

The Razer Edge has an Intel Core i5 processor clocked at 1.7GHz with 4GB of RAM and a 64 GB SSD. As for graphics, you'll be playing around with an NVIDIA GT640M LE GPU. Essentially, we're looking at a full-blown PC here, but only in tablet form running Windows 8. Of course, you can also get the Edge Pro, which comes with a CPU and storage upgrade.

Along with the tablet itself, the gamepad controller, home console dock, and extended battery accessories will also be available for pre-order on March 1 and will ship at the same time as the tablet. Razer also says that an optional keyboard dock will launch sometime in Q3 this year, but we have yet to hear final pricing for that.

The Razer Edge will start at $999, which is definitely not a cheap price for a tablet, but with full-blown specs capable of producing crisp gameplay, on top of a beautiful display, it's not hard to see why the Edge is priced as it is. The tablet was quite the product at CES last month, winning a handful of awards during the show.
