PUBG Season 5 detailed: Throwable weapons and vending machines

PUBG Corp has taken the wraps off the fifth season of PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, the battle royale game offering a slightly more realistic experience than Fortnite. Though the new season is only out on the test server at this time, the company has released the patch notes for its upcoming update, revealing all the changes that'll arrive in Season 5.

The update is a big one that'll introduce new fighting strategies for solo players and teams. In addition to the new ability to throw melee weapons, the game's upcoming fifth season will also enable players to throw items to each other. This could prove useful for rapidly passing healing items to an injured teammate, for example.

PUBG Season 5 will also bring Vending Machines to Camp Jackal and Miramar, enabling players to get Energy Drinks and Painkillers. The machines will be located at gas stations in both maps, as well as warehouses in Camp Jackal and even more in Miramar, including motels and casinos.

These will be joined by a number of changes, tweaks, and upgrades. The Win94 will automatically feature a 2.7x scope going forward, for example, plus it'll become a Miramar-exclusive firearm. As mentioned, all melee weapons will be throwable and players will be able to carry multiple weapons at a time.

Beyond gameplay changes, PUBG Season 5 will also bring an improved user interface with unified categories based on item type, the addition of a filtering option, a larger and more easily accessible back button, an improved UI for the game's Store, a new animation in the system menu, an improved firing mode display, and more.
