Pokemon GO Now Lets You Store Up To 3,000 Pokemon

"Gotta Catch 'em All" has always been the slogan of the Pokemon franchise but, truth be told, the games have been as much about organization and management as they are about collection and competition. For a game that tells you to catch them all, it's almost ironic that you have a rather hard cap on how much Pokemon you can have in storage. That limitation is even more acute in Pokemon GO but is, thankfully, expanding year after year, with this latest announcement about expanding Pokemon and Item capacities if you have the Pokecoin to spend.

Unlike the mainline Pokemon games, Pokemon GO not only spans generations but also has a looser collection mechanic. It's not unusual for players to hit their initial 300 Pokemon slots and 350 Items backpack capacity in no time at all. Of course, you can buy your way to expand your storage but there is also a limit on that.

Fortunately, developers Niantic Labs increase those limits from time to time. Around this time last year, it increased the maximum Pokemon storage from 1,500 to 2,000 and, just this July, bumped it up to 2,500. Now it is announcing that trainers and collectors can now store up to 3,000 Pokemon and expand their bags to accommodate 2,500 items. if only such a bag existed in the real world.

Of coursre, none of these come for free. Each expansion costs 200 Pokecoins for 50 slots, be it for Pokemon or Items. Those Pokecoins, in turn, can be acquired in-game via rewards and bonuses. Or they can also be purchased with real-world money if you're into that sort of thing.

The timing of the announcement couldn't be more perfect as Pokemon GO expands to welcome Generation V species. Even though it no longer makes big splashes in the news, Pokemon GO retains a steady flow of concurrent gamers and, more importantly, profits that put it above all AR mobile games, including Niantic's own.
