Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy coming to PC, consoles
The video game industry is home to a wide variety of genres that go beyond the usual culprits like shooters and RPGs. There are simulations for doing surgery or building PCs, games that test your patience with a draw of luck, and even some that are like an interactive romance. But how about one that plays like a choose your own mystery novel? That's precisely what the Ace Attorney series is and Capcom is now bringing the first three installments of the franchise to consoles and, surprisingly, PCs.
Don't expect some serious detective work and gritty, dark stories here. In typical anime-like Japanese fashion, the game doesn't take itself too seriously, with lots of comical expressions and antics. That's not to say you won't need to activate those brain cells to actually win your case (though losing might also be just as entertaining actually).
Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney launched way back in 2001 on the Game Boy Advance before heading West on the Nintendo DS. It has since then expanded into numerous sequels, spinoffs, and even an anime series. And in somewhat a reversal of fortunes, it is only now, more than a decade later, that the first parts of that long-running franchise is coming to the bigger gaming machines.
The Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy is comprised of the first three games in the series, namely, "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney", "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney − Justice for All" and "Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney − Trials and Tribulations". The trilogy already made its way to mobile actually but, in line with consoles' higher processing powers, the visuals are naturally being updated to glorious HD.
Don't get too excited yet, though, if you're a fan of the series. Capcom hasn't yet revealed a release date, much less a price, beyond marking it for 2019. It does promise that Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy will be available on the PS4, Xbox One, Switch, and Steam for PCs.
