Oculus Rift DK2 pre-orders will be cancelled if you try to sell them
If you've pre-ordered the new Oculus Rift and you're toying with the idea of selling it online, you'd better think twice. Oculus is keeping an eye out for just such sales, and being discovered could mean getting your DK2 pre-order cancelled.
Because of the mixture of demand and slow availability, some are profiting (or trying to) off of the Oculus Rift DK2, trying to sell them through third-party services for massively elevated price tags. As you might expect, they've cropped up on eBay.
Oculus is having none of that, however, and neither is its larger developer community. One eBay listing in particular became the source of a secret mission to get more details by the Oculus community, which then gave the details to the company.
Some time later, Oculus' community manager cropped up to announced that the seller had been discovered and his pre-order of the virtual reality headset had been cancelled. Others have also had their pre-orders cancelled, including those who tried to acquire multiple units.
