Nintendo's Shigeru Miyamoto says company open to movies

Nintendo has some of the most iconic game characters out there in its library and some of those were created by Shigeru Miyamoto. The legendary game designer has stated that Nintendo is open to movie adaptations, which is good news and bad news. The good news is that some of our favorite old school game characters might come to the big screen.

The bad news is that rarely are movies based on video games very good. Just think about flops like Pixels or Doom as examples of terrible video game movies. Miyamoto has noted that Nintendo has had the chance in the past to enter the film business.

So far, he says that the gaming giant has been reluctant to make movies or to make games to be launched alongside a movie. Miyamoto says that Nintendo is looking to how it could make movies in the future.

Anyone who has seen the Mario Bros movie from the 90s knows that things can get pretty bad when it comes to Nintendo movies. Miyamoto didn't offer any specifics about when we might see these movies or what characters might come first. You can bet that Zelda or Mario will be top contenders for big screen adaptations.
