New Call of Duty title tackles concept of privatized war
What if a company was your opposition in war? A new Call of Duty game asks that very same question. The latest Call of Duty takes a page from recent political headlines and puts it in the palm of your hands. A new video for the game, which you can see below, teases the idea heavily.
In conjunction with hard-hitting news publication Vice, Call of Duty's video is an alarming take on how out of control an independent military can be. Loyal to nothing but money, corporate guns for hire have the potential to be the most dangerous of enemies.
That's what you'll be faced with in the new Call of Duty title. A private military entity that has an agenda, likely guided by the almighty dollar. Are you facing one company? A congregation of many entities? We don't know. The rumored game title Blacksmith is very close to Blackwater, a private military contractor that likely served as the inspiration here.
The video teases the game heavily, but offers little in the way of actual details. The heavy-handed teasing clearly gives away the major plot line, but that's only one of many story threads we're likely to see with the next Call of Duty.
