Montblanc Summit Android Wear smartwatch now available

Montblanc has launched its previously unveiled Summit smartwatch, a classy Android Wear offering that, at first glance, looks like any other traditional timepiece. The company is offering Summit in more than a dozen styles, including both titanium and steel models and both calfskin and rubber straps. Though the smartwatch still isn't available through Montblanc itself, it has launched at Mr. Porter where it is offered at a slight discount.

Montblanc Summit joins the growing list of Android Wear smartwatches that look like regular, traditional watches, the kind you'd be comfortable wearing in a formal or business environment. According to the company, this is the first smartwatch that utilizes both wearable technology and 'Swiss fine watchmaking codes' for an overall high-end — and modern — timepiece.

The watch features a round AMOLED digital touch display and crystal glass, as well as an array of sensors including a barometer and multiple unspecified fitness sensors. The watch likewise features Bluetooth for connectivity and a microphone for voice commands, and a battery capable of lasting a full day. Android Wear 2.0 brings functionality with Android and iOS smartphones.

Montblanc has included its own watch faces on the Summit, including the classic 1858 collection, another described as minimalist for urban environments, and yet another designed for fitness enthusiasts. The watch itself is water-resistant thanks to an IP-68 standard rating. Though the prices start at $930 USD on Montblanc's website, Mr. Porter currently is offering the watch at $890 USD.
