Microsoft's Windows 1.0 tease dropped some key Stranger Things details

For the past few days, Microsoft has been making a number of very curious teases all centered around Windows 1.0. It's been decades since Windows 1.0 was the operating system of the day, so these teases definitely piqued the interest of many. From the very start, multiple people have been guessing that these teases could be a tie-in with the third season of Stranger Things, which debuted on Netflix yesterday.

With Microsoft's latest Windows 1.0 tease, it appears those people were right. Though Microsoft still hasn't pulled the veil back entirely, the latest tweet confirms that all of this is indeed related to Stranger Things season 3. Check out the tweet below.

"Before we move forward, are you sure you're ready to go know where?" the tweet reads. As if that wasn't enough confirmation, that tweet is accompanied by a video that shows an old school computer which quickly flashes the Netflix logo. For a brief moment, that computer also displays a message that reads "Watch Stranger Things 3." At the end of the tweet, Microsoft published an additional message in morse code that simply says "July 8."

So, even though we're not really sure how all of these teases tie into Stranger Things season 3, we now know they do and we'll probably be finding out more on the 8th. It seems like it might be more than just an advertising stunt, because Microsoft has really gone whole hog on these Windows 1.0 teases. Unfortunately, we've got a few more days to wait before we learn more.

It makes sense that Netflix and Microsoft would team up for some kind of Windows 1.0 and Stranger Things mash up, as Season 3 of the lauded show is set in 1985, the same year that Windows 1.0 was released to the masses. Microsoft clearly didn't want to miss an opportunity to talk about the operating system that kicked off the now-dominant Windows line, so for now, we'll look forward to what's coming up on the 8th.
